Welcome to Your Dashboard
Think of your SemaQuote dashboard as mission control for your business. Everything you need to manage quotes, invoices, clients, and payments lives here, organized so you can find what you need in seconds.
Whether you are checking in from your desk or on the go with the mobile app, this guide will help you feel at home.
What You Will See When You Log In
When you open SemaQuote, you land on the Business Overview page. This is your daily starting point, and it is designed to answer one question immediately: How is my business doing right now?
Let's walk through each section together.
The Header: Your Control Panel
At the top of your screen, you will find three essential elements:
- Page Title - Confirms you are on "Business Overview"
- Date Range Selector - Filter your data by Today, Last 7 Days, or Last 30 Days (more on this in our date filters guide)
- New Quote Button - Start creating a quote instantly, with a handy keyboard shortcut shown right on the button
Metric Cards: Your Business at a Glance
Just below the header, four cards give you a quick health check:
| Metric | What It Tells You |
|---|---|
| Total Revenue | All the money you have collected since day one |
| Period Revenue | Revenue from your selected date range |
| Active Clients | Clients with recent activity |
| Collection Rate | Percentage of invoices that have been paid |
Each card includes a helpful subtitle with extra context. Hover over the info icon to see a detailed explanation.
Pro tip: Your collection rate is one of the best indicators of business health. Aim for 90% or higher.
Outstanding Balance Alert
If you have unpaid invoices, a yellow alert banner appears to keep you informed. This is not meant to stress you out; it is there to help you stay on top of your cash flow.
The alert shows:
- Your total outstanding balance
- Any overdue amounts (highlighted in red so you can prioritize them)
- A direct link to view and act on those invoices
Charts That Tell Your Story
Your dashboard includes three visualizations to help you spot trends:
Revenue Trends Chart - A bar chart showing invoiced amounts, overdue invoices, and payments received over time. Green bars (paid) should ideally match or exceed blue bars (invoiced).
Invoice Status Chart - See how your invoices break down by status: Draft, Sent, Paid, or Overdue. A healthy business shows most invoices in the Paid category.
Status Trends Chart - Track how invoice statuses change over your selected period. This helps you understand your typical payment cycle.
Navigating with the Sidebar
The sidebar on the left is your navigation hub. Here is what you will find:
Main Navigation
- Home - Return to your Business Overview anytime
- Clients - Manage your client database and contact details
- Quotes - Create and track quotes
- Invoices - Monitor all your invoices
- Payments - View payment history
- Services - Define the services you offer
You will notice count badges next to each item showing how many records are in each section. This gives you a quick sense of your data at a glance.

Below the main navigation:
- Settings - Configure your account, branding, and preferences
- Trash - Access deleted items (yes, you can restore them if needed)
Footer Controls

Finding Things Fast with Search
Here is a shortcut that will save you time every day: press Cmd + K (Mac) or Ctrl + K (Windows) to open the command palette.
This powerful search feature lets you:
- Find clients, quotes, or invoices by name or number
- Jump to any section of the app instantly
- Access common actions without clicking through menus
Once you get used to it, you might never click the sidebar again.
Mobile Navigation
On the SemaQuote mobile app, the interface adapts to fit your phone:
- The sidebar transforms into a bottom navigation bar for easy thumb access
- Swipe between sections naturally
- Search is available at the top of each screen
- Metric cards stack vertically for easy scrolling
The mobile experience is designed for quick check-ins while you are away from your desk.
Getting the Most from Your Dashboard
Here are a few habits that will help you stay on top of your business:
-
Start your day here - Check your dashboard each morning to see outstanding tasks and any overdue invoices that need attention
-
Play with date filters - Switch between time periods to understand both short-term activity and longer trends
-
Keep an eye on your collection rate - If it drops below 90%, that is your signal to review your invoicing process
-
Act on alerts promptly - When you see overdue invoices, use the direct links in the alert banner to follow up
